ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS!

In the midst of an exciting kick-off, planning for new events, the start of a hectic school semester, and a constant holding of breaths regarding the forthcoming election in the oh-so-promised land in the west; we (your supposedly trustworthy, effective, and informative beloved board) have forgotten to mention that there are some “new” board members in town!

First out, here’s our “new” Vice President (elected in May and inaugurated just before all the new kids were): Elvira Melin!

We asked her to reveal some personal secrets:

What do you want to be when you grow up?
A person with a supercool job which does not require me to work more than 50% but still pays like normal job.. Ideally it would also be super interesting and related to creating world peace (quote: miss secret agent).

Why did you choose to study Peace and Development?
I can’t remember but I think I had some belief that I was gonna meet a lot of people who shared my childish view of the world, and that we were gonna make the world a better place or something. But I learned very soon that I should not believe I will become a diplomat…

Why did you decide to join the board?
I applied to join the board when I was about to finish my second year in the program and realized I had done almost nothing for Upad during these years. I had gone to all events though and enjoyed them A LOT and complained as soon as there were no events. I thought it was time for me to give something back… 🙂

Who’s your personal hero?
Ebba Bladh, what a star!

Secondly,
our new Head of Education, Josefine Bylund (elected at the same time and inaugurated as soon as she was back from her “semester abroad” at Harvard University…)

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Humanitarian affairs officer at the UN.

Why did you choose to study Peace and Development?
Because we study exactly what I wanna dedicate my future career. I have always been interested in human rights and development. Earning my bachelor degree in Peace and development studies felt like a smart first move.

Why did you decide to join the board?
I decided to join the board for several reasons but mainly because I felt like I wanted to give back to UPaD for all the work they put in in order to make my first year at the program amazing!

Who’s your personal hero?
Kofi Annan (and vegans).

So… here it is… a (super delayed) WELCOME to our two latest stars. We <3 you.
