Hi, dear members of UPaD!
Valborg is once again approaching - the most spectacular time for a student in Uppsala. Maybe you managed to get a hold of tickets to Snerikes, ÖG or any other nice celebration, maybe you did not. Nonetheless, this is your chance to start off the Valborg-weekend with a bang! Join us in welcoming Valborg with a gasque + släpp at Gästrike-Hälsinge Nation (GH), on the 26th of April. It will be an evening filled with singing, laughter and loads of UPaD-fun!

Graduation Ceremony
The time has come for our third-year UPaD members to begin new adventures, hopefully with plenty of cherish-able memories from your time in Uppsala. To celebrate this, we from UPaD would like to invite all our graduating students to the graduation ceremony! It will take place on the 14h of June in the University Hall where you not only will receive diplomas, but also enjoy speeches and entertainment. After the ceremony, you and your dear beloved are welcome to join the reception.

Talk With Latin American Ambassadors
In collaboration with the Department of Peace and Conflict, Pax et Bellum and UPaD would like to invite you to a talk with Latin American Ambassadors. The ambassadors from Colombia and Peru will have a brief intervention on their respective countries, that will be followed by a Q&A session in which you can interact and discuss with them. This is a unique chance to receive answers to your questions and learn from regional experts!
Please note that there is no pre-registration, so be there in time to ensure a seat.

Kallelse till årsmöte 2024!
I egenskap av medlemmar i Uppsala Peace and Development Students’ Association kallar vi härmed till föreningens årsmöte. Årsmötet är föreningens högsta organ med rätt att bland annat välja föreningens styrelse och valberedning.
Detta årsmöte kommer äga rum den 9/1 2024 på Gamla Torget, Lewinsalen.
Under årsmötet skall samtliga poster till föreningens styrelse för verksamhetsåret 2022 väljas, dessa är:
Ordförande, Vice-Ordförande, Kassör, Sekreterare, Kommunikationsansvarig, Evenemangsansvarig, Vice-Evenemangsansvarig, Utbildningsansvarig, Vice-Utbildningsansvarig, Ledamot, Idrottsansvarig, Generaler till inspark, valberedning samt revisorer.

Paths to Peace: Understanding Israel-Palestine Dynamics
In collaboration with the Department of Peace and Conflict, Pax et Bellum, and UPaD, would like to extend an invitation to you for a panel discussion on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The panel discussion will delve into the conflict from an academic perspective, covering its history, context, violence against civilians, past peace initiatives, and future prospects for peace. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive space for all students to gain informed insights into the complexities of the conflict. The panelists will include Isak Svensson, Sophia Hatz and Lisa Hultman.
Please note that we are committed to fostering an atmosphere of respect and understanding. Accordingly, any expressions of racist, xenophobic, anti-Islamic, or antisemitic attitudes will not be tolerated.

“Talking and Fighting”–Negotiations in the Midst of War: The Case of Colombia
Dear members of UPaD and Pax et Bellum, you are cordially invited to an exclusive lecture with the chief architect behind the Colombian peace process, Mr. Sergio Jaramillo Caro. We are delighted to co-arrange this lecture together with the DCPR as it will be a unique opportunity for our members to get detailed and first-hand insights into this peace process.

Är du intresserad av EU-frågor? Är du möjligtvis Sveriges nästa EU-parlamentariker? Eller är du bara fikasugen en onsdagseftermiddag? Då är du varmt välkommen till vårt EU-föredrag med alumnen Tilda Barkselius som är Uppsala Universitets student ambassadör för EU careers!
Med 27 medlemsländer och 450 miljoner invånare är EU en unik arbetsplats.
Trots det är det bara cirka 1% svenskar av alla anställda i EU institutioner, målet är att vi ska ligga på 2.7%.
Vi behöver fler svenskar inom EU, oavsett vilken akademisk bakgrund man kommer ifrån.
Det är viktigt att det finns kunskap om svenskt samhällsliv och kultur inom EU. Alla vi medborgare påverkas av vilka beslut som tas på EU nivå!
Det kan vara lätt att känna sig frånkopplad från EU. Men EU är lika mycket vårt, som någon annans. Denna presentation går därför ut på att informera er om hur ni kommer åt EU, hur ni öppnar dörrar och hur ni gör er ansökningsprocess så lätt som möjligt. Oavsett om det är jobb, praktik eller annan anställningsform ni är ute efter.
Alla är välkomna, oavsett akademisk bakgrund och förkunskap!

Last day of Registration to SKIWEEK 2024
UPaD's probably most popular and fun event is the traditional trip to SkiWeek, and FINALLY registration is open for the 2024 trip! SkiWeek is organized every year by Skistar and occurs during v. 3-5 in Åre, respectively v. 3-4 in Vemdalen. In order for us as a student association to be able to register for SkiWeek, we need to know exactly how many toads that are keen to come along as we register jointly for booking, transport, accommodation etc. The total cost of the trip cannot yet be determined, but usually end up at around SEK 4,000/person (which includes travel, accommodation and SkiPass for 5 days).
In order for this to be possible, a committee also needs to be put together that takes on most of the responsibility for the trip (as the current event managers are going on exchange + a new board has just taken office).
Everyone who registers for the trip is welcome to get involved and more information about this will be announced during an upcoming committee meeting.
